Expedition ship HANSEATIC completes scheduled docking period in Bremerhaven
After its three-week scheduled docking period, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ HANSEATIC left the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven on 21 October 2015. Extensive technical work was carried out on board while the ship was docked. In particular, the stabilizers were converted to environmentally friendly technology. There were also visual changes made, 240 animal and nature photographs by the Hamburg-based star photographer Michael Poliza now hang in the cabins and public areas. For three weeks, work was carried out non-stop on board the HANSEATIC. This docking period saw mostly extensive technical improvements. The ship’s two stabilizers were completely overhauled and converted to environmentally friendly technology, which represents an extraordinary step in terms of sustainability. The stabilizers now run on environmentally friendly biopetroleum. Additionally, the ship’s two main engines have undergone a complete overhaul and will continue to safely transport the 122.8 metre-long expedition ship to the most exotic destinations in the world.

Around 240 large nature and animal photographs by the Hamburg-based star photographer Michael Poliza will lend more of an air of expedition to the ship. The famous photographer took the photos on his travels, and his works include motifs from the Arctic, Antarctic and Africa. Guests on board can also marvel at a selection of spectacular aerial shots, such as of Kamchatka.

A range of minor work was also carried out during the docking period, including replacing carpets, renovating the consultation area of the cruise sales department and modernizing the presentation walls of the on-board photographer with modern screens.
